ANZAC DAY

My son is marching today in Brisbane at the ANZAC Day March with 6 RAR. I won't see him march today, but might get a sneeky peek on the television. I won't actually see him for a few months as he will be here, doing this.

We headed on over to our local march. We live in a small town but today made me love it, and its people more.
Anticipation
Impressive
Courageous
Determination
A moment after this photo was taken this veteran became unsteady and had to have a rest. It was no more than a minute or two then he re-joined the march to the admiration of all present.

Traditional
Reminiscing...my  Primary school
Hello my high School
This ANZAC Day March is not the biggest, it will never get news coverage, but it was a heartfelt and proud display of a community that will never forget the sacrifice and the duty of the brave men and women who stood up for their country when it counted the most.
Lest we forget

Be The Best You Can

Nothing good lasts forever......like holidays, so it was back to work today but without my usual company of thirty students....I get them back tomorrow.
It was staff development day and one speaker got my attention, Wayne Bennett current coach of the Newcastle Knights and a rap sheet that is impeccable. He has a reputation of being a man of few words and the few he uses are considered and meaningful.
"Hello Wayne, I can sort of see you up there"
One simple message got through to me "Be the best you can" I think I can..........................

Weather Warrior

The battle plan had been drawn up. Tom Tom attached we hit the F3 and plunged ourselves into our mission to take on Sydney. Firstly a visit to the Estee Lauder Corporate Store via two passes obtained from the fabulous Miss Tallulah Porkchop (thank you, thank you xxx.) This would be followed up by an all- guns -blazing forage to Ikea....there could be casualties.
Well, like all well layed plans, there was a hiccup...in fact an almighty deluge of rain type of hiccup, that had to be seen to be believed, the weather types labelled it  "a significant weather event."
Brave us/crazy us persisted with our plan. Until we had to admit defeat and hope Estee excuses us until another date can be arranged....sob.
But Ikea was not going to get away that easily. We attacked its unguarded rear flank with gusto and staged a magnificent campaign.
Hours later, battle weary, but fortified with a satisfying meal during a brief pause in the campaign, we headed for home. And so did the "significant weather event" Oh so scary........
Sydney I love you, but not on a day like we experienced.......And why can't there be an Ikea in Newcastle?
Purchases may or may not include some or all of the following......Frack,  Bitrale, Laver, Eldrig, Malkolm, Gomarren, Flaren, Alhede, Skimra, Rationell Variera and maybe some Papaja. (that is the extent of my Swedish...oh and of course I can say ABBA) Now where is my screwdriver?

Casualties

The Ikea meatballs, complete with Ligonberry jam...as you do (tastes better than it photographs)

Running Away

Today we completely dispensed with routine and ran away......we came back eventually but it was a beautiful escape.

We came to take a sneaky peek at The Oaks Pacific Blue Resort at Salamander Bay....what do you think?

Yep we made a booking for a weekend later on in the year....in a swim-out unit....of course!

Fish and chips for lunch at the marina......heavenly.
Side trip to a display home.....I want one of these over my deck.
Afternoon tea seaside.
Look carefully.....what's missing? (did you answer a finger....or half a finger, well you are correct, but that's another story) Ouch! Hello Dad.

Facelift

No it's not me, it's my house, she's getting a makeover. New paint, new carpet. So decisions, choose colours. Overload. How do you choose from the overwhelming array of choice?....This could take some time.
Solution. I arrived at work today with armloads of paint charts and distributed them to my work mates.....result......we have a winner. My work is done. Over to you Mr Painter. I'm not lifting a brush.
